The pathology report described the tissue sample as fragments of granulation tissue and fibrous connective tissue containing a patchy, intense, mixed inflammatory infiltrate dominated by plasma cells. In many areas the islands are surfaced by non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium, but focally there are fragments of parakeratinized squamous epithelium exhibiting basilar hyperplasia and pallisading and basal layers, highly suggestive of an odontogenic keratocyst. The fragments are associated with blood clot and aggregates of bacterial colonies. No evidence of malignancy is present in these tissues.
